One of the great things about any round table is the beautiful look it gives your kitchen. While some homeowners like to have their table and chairs anchor a corner of the room, out of the way, you can also put your table front and center. This works particularly well if your kitchen has an open floor plan. You can use it in lieu of a kitchen island. In fact, you may find a nice bistro table to be perfect in the center of the kitchen, since it gives you a higher table that can double as prep space when preparing meals or baking.
Another benefit of kitchen tables is the ease of cleaning. If you have kids, kitchen tables are almost essential! While kitchens are tiled, most dining rooms and other rooms in the house are not. This fact, and children with food, are a recipe for disaster. Nothing is more maddening than having a slice of pizza falling, face down, leaving a nice red triangle on your new carpet. It would have been far better if the kids were sent to the kitchen tables. If a piece of pizza were to fall to the floor there, it could be easily cleaned up and the evidence washed away.

You can still keep the area looking open, however, by investing in round kitchen tables that have a pedestal design, have a glass top or smaller, more delicate legs. Heavy woods and legs can really suck up the visual space, and you want to take this into account when selecting furniture for the kitchen, or any room for that matter.
