Research & Analysis

Research and Analysis available from Ptak/Noel includes:

Data analysis

Review of new or client research, PTAK/NOEL present their unique view of impact, implication, and meaning (e.g. researcher says 25% of respondents indicating an upgrade in client systems as a top priority – PTAK/NOEL says if respondents want to avoid application migration headache, they need to look at creating dynamic client systems with application virtualization technology). Presentation formats include a single written report (see example: The State of J2EE Application Management: 2005 Survey ), PowerPoint presentation or series of articles.

Customer Success Research

This is a cost-sensitive compromise project between doing a full-blown customer survey and preparing a series of case-studies. PTAK/NOEL poses questions to a select group of customers to produce charts highlighting solution benefits (e.g. critical features needed to really save time on consolidation projects). PTAK/NOEL uses other questions to produce customer vignettes to illicit responses, convey some specific solution benefit or client success details that tend to get lost in general surveys. One example of this type of project is available for viewing at www.ptaknoelassociates.com/CSS/Heroix.

Market Trend Scenario Research

Using the SCF scenario methodology developed and successfully applied worldwide by our European partner, PTAK/NOEL provides a strategy testing research service that uses demographic analysis and our research to create scenarios of alternative ways the IT market may develop. PTAK/NOEL combines its insight into market trends, evolving end-user needs, demographics to develop creditable alternative scenarios of what the market will look like in 5 to 25 years. These serve as a basis for product and solution tactics, medium to long term strategies, and direct investment decisions.
